As host site for the famous US Open Tennis Championships in late August every year, New York City regularly buzzes with the exciting play some of the best professional tennis players in the world. For those visiting here who are what we might call recreational tennis players, each borough has a number of outdoor public courts where you can play by obtaining a tennis permit for a reasonable fee of $100, and then making your reservation for court time. There is a simple sign up process you can learn about here. This permit allows you to reserve playing time for an entire year, so you might want to consider it. Court time at private tennis clubs listed below can be extremely expensive and is usually more easily reserved by club members.
