On September 11, 2001 the isolated town of Gander, Newfoundland found itself the unexpected hosts to thousands of travelers when 38 planes were diverted to its small air strip. What started as an average day in a small town turned in to an international sleep-over and the people of Gander opened their homes, hearts and bars to welcome people from around the globe.
